This time I will introduce you about Shinnyodo(真如堂), which I recommend in Kyoto autumn trip.

About Shinnyodo(真如堂)

I don’t know about Shinnyodo(真如堂)’s history well. haha

I will tell you only that I have visited Shinnyodo(真如堂) several times and left an impression.

１　Three-storied pagoda(三重塔)

It soars over the precincts.

It has a very strong presence.

You can take a picture with the autumn leaves like this.

２　Large Nirvana painting(大きな大きな涅槃図)

You can see a Large Nirvana painting before paying the entrance fee and heading to the beautiful Japanese garden.

All kinds of creatures are drawn, and you can see insects such as centipedes.

The explanation of Large Nirvana painting that the monk does is also interesting.

３　Japanese garden made by Shigemori Chisawo(重森千靑)

Chisawo Shigemori(重森千靑) is a grandson of Mirei Shigemori, who created gardens such as the Big Dipper garden at Tofukuji Temple.

You can see capital letters at the back of this garden.

Shinnyodo(真如堂)’s autumnal conditions (FY2018)

I took these pictures on November 24, 2018.

The water bath is also beautiful.

In the precincts, autumn leaves show various colors.

The redness of the autumn leaves on the left side of the main hall was amazing.

I was surprised if there was such a bright red in nature.

I’m wondering where it’s beautiful to take photos.

Those who have a camera are likely to forget the time and take pictures of autumn leaves.

How to get to Shinnyodo(真如堂) by bus from Kyoto Station(京都駅)

Please take a city bus (No.100) from Kyoto eki-mae[京都駅前](bus stop).

It is Honen-incho[法然院町](bus stop) that gets off the bus.

You will arrive at Shinnyodo(真如堂) in 6 minutes on foot from Honen-incho[法然院町](bus stop).

The slope continues from the Honen-incho[法然院町](bus stop) to Shinnyodo(真如堂).

I recommend that you go in a comfortable wear.

Sightseeing information around Shinnyodo(真如堂)

There are many sightseeing spots around Shinnyodo(真如堂).

Philosophical road(哲学の道), Eikando(永観堂), Honen-in(法然院), Nanzen-ji(南禅寺), etc.

If you go sightseeing, it will be an area where you can enjoy even one day.

I personally recommend going to the fall foliage around Shinnyodo(真如堂) rather than going to Arashiyama(嵐山).

There is a place near Shinnyodo(真如堂) where you can eat French at a temple!

A hideout cafe on Mt. Yoshida(吉田山)

There is Yoshida Shrine(吉田神社) near Shinnyodo(真如堂).

There is a hideout cafe in the precincts of Yoshida Shrine(吉田神社), a 9-minute walk from Shinnyodo(真如堂).

I recommend that you go in a comfortable wear because of cafe in the mountain.
